Do Not Go Back

Do Not Go Back

1.  Why do we go to church as Christians?
2.  For riches/prosperity?
3.  Healing and deliverance

The answer should be to worship the Lord Jesus and why do we worship King Jesus?
Matthew 17:1-9  "

The Transfiguration

After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.

Reasons to worship Jesus

1. We worship Jesus for His divinity.
2. We worship Jesus for His supremacy.
3. We worship Jesus for His humanity.
4. We worship Jesus for His humility.

Ho do we know His:-

Divinity- because it was disclosed on the Mountof Transfiguration.
Supremacy- it was disclosed by light shinning in Him and His name being the only name to be feared by evil spirits.  His supremacy was manifested by the authority in his mouth, in calming the storm, in raising Luzarus from the grave, the little girl, healing the sick, giving sight to the blind etc.
Where ever is God's presence, the light appears as well.

Failure to worship Him and rejecting Him does not change Him for less than the great Lord and Master He really is.  But if you worship Him in truth and in spirit, His glory and light fall upon you.

John 17:6-26  "

Jesus Prays for His Disciples

“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destructionso that Scripture would be fulfilled.
13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

Jesus Prays for All Believers

20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in themand that I myself may be in them.

The Lord Jesus prayed for you and me as He is still praying for us.  Even if you were well versed in the art of communication to God that would not matter, without Jesus, our prayers are nothing and useless, they have no power we'd just make noise.
Ours is to worship Him then and maintain a good relationship with Him so He can speak with the Father regarding our needs.
You cannot pray to the Father if you can't worship the Son.
The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are inseparable, there is no way you can be in fellowship with the Father but fail to believe and worship the Son unless your bible is different all together.

Do Not Go Back.
What makes most people backslide are motives for which they come to church, people come to church just so they may be  blessed and receive breakthroughs, not because they believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
I once asked one of the teenagers after a Sunday service in order to prove a point to Pastor Khoza, "What makes you wake up and come to church?"  She answered, I want things to go well in my life so I can live a good life in terms of finances.  I wasn't surprised but he was shocked.

Going to church for breakthroughs can be dangerous, I do not mean don't come to church when you have problems, the house of God is the only place you can run to in troublous times.  However, my point is, allow your  mind to open up instead of being focused on getting that particular situation out of your way, let that situation usher you in your journey to seek the face of the Lord.
There is a reward in seeking His face, Sacheaus was not holy but he did all he could just so he could get to see and to know Jesus Christ, he found favor so can you.

If your focus is merely on solving a problem at hand, chances are you will give up before it gets solved, or even worse immediately when it gets solved you forget all about Jesus and you go back to glorify darkness like the prodigal son.
If a child goes to school merely to get matriculation, very often the child will get comfortable once completed matriculation and bother not to study further, however if the goal is beyond grade 12, the child will most probably refuse to settle for less and continue studying till he/she achieves the goal.

God knows what we need and what we don't need, you will crying breakthroughs but God can see the enemy has cowed you will not cross over to 2020 in one piece and He would prioritize the life threatening situation before giving you a breakthrough.
"I declare total failure and embarrassment on the enemy planning your destruction in Jesus' name.  By the authority of Mark 11:23, I declare mountains shall be removed from your life, in Jesus' name."

The danger of the gospel of prosperity, when you do not get wealthy, you will see your world crashing down and nothing will seem right in what you are doing and you will lose hope and faith in God, your attitude goes a very long way.  Silver and gold belong to Jehovah but you have to earn them, they are not free.

Stop stressing about prosperity, there are much better things God has done for you through your prayers, the fact that you wake up every morning and see the morning light, that is nowhere close to your wisdom but His grace and tender mercies.
Money will not rain from the sky, there's a situation that needs to be taken care of which will lead to a proper way for you to earn that money.

Even the enemy is able to give you prosperity that you will never enjoy, the evil one tried to trick Adam and in Eve in the Cave Of Treasure, pretending to be the Prince of light(Jesus) told Adam to bow before him because God has sent him to deliver good news that He has forgiven him from transgressing His commandment, but the angel of the Lord appeared and chased the devil away.
A lot of people and churches have bowed to the evil one because of prosperity.

The Son says,"Father I pray for those that you have given them to me, not the world, those that believe in me as your Son, those who have accepted me."
Until you accept Jesus Christ, if you call on Him you are wasting your breathe.
There are things you want but you cannot have them because of the curse in your bloodline.
Only Jesus can ask the Father to separate you from the generational curse.  There are things you are praying for but and your prayers have been answered but those things will only be given to your descendants not you.

1Kings 11:34-35.
This means if you prayed well, rest assured that your children will find favor when you are gone. If you messed up, there too you can be sure you left a heap of hot coals for them.  David walked upright before God, Solomon found favour after falling into idolatry because of his wives of foreign nations.  However, his children did not go unpunished for their father(Solomon). Rehoboam lost power over 10 tribes at once, remaining with 1 just for the name of King David.
God wants to help you, so He pleads with you,
"Do Not Go Back."
